In this article, we have discussed the complete process, but before that, let us consider a scenario and understand the need for this process. Suppose you have left a bowl of soup in the microwave oven and went to a cricket match.
Now, as we know, how attractive a cricket match can be. And in all that excitement, you forgot about the soup. At the end of the game, you suddenly remembered the soup and went to check on it. There you saw that your microwave oven is greased from that soup.
Now you will need to clean it, and there are multiple methods to clean a microwave but cleaning with vinegar is the easiest and cheapest method.
Process of Cleaning:
There are certain steps that you need to follow in order to clean the microwave without ruining the microwave safely.
Step 1:
Take a bowl of hot water and put two teaspoons of vinegar in it. Vinegar is a volatile liquid, and as soon as it comes in contact with heat, it evaporates.
Therefore, we place it in hot water so that steam containing vinegar can surround the grime on the walls of the microwave.
Remember, many articles that you come across will say that you should take a cup of water, place it in the oven, turn on the oven and let the water heat.
But I suggest not to do so because it can be hazardous as a microwave oven is an electronic appliance. The water vapors can cause a short circuit in the oven.
Step 2:
Make sure that the bowl is not covered.
If you cover the surface of the bowl, then the steam will not rise, and hence there will be no use of all this process.
Step 3:
Shut the door of the microwave properly.
If the door is not closed properly, then all the steam will leave the oven, and the experiment will fail.
Step 4:
Be patient and wait for about 5 – 10 minutes.
Patience is the key here. It would be best if you gave some time to the steam of vinegar to soothe the grime around the walls of the oven. If proper time is not allowed for the steam, then the dirt will still be thick and difficult to clean.
Step 5:
Now carefully remove the bowl from the microwave oven.
Make sure you don’t spill the water inside the oven. Also, the bowl will be slippery and hot, so make sure that you put on gloves or oven mitts not to hurt yourself either.
Step 6:
If there are some detachable parts like grill or turntable etc. so also remove them.
These materials are best to remove first. Then carefully clean them outside the oven.
Step 7:
Hold a sponge, and dip it in water, either hot or cold; both are fine. Then squeeze it to remove all the water from it. Now clean the inside of the microwave thoroughly, starting from the surface and then going towards the sides, followed by the door. And eventually, clean the removable parts of the oven.
Step 8:
Now for the climax, take a dry cloth and clean the microwave thoroughly again, including the removable parts.
This step is also necessary because faults can arise in the oven if the microwave and its removable parts are not dried.
After following the above steps, you have achieved your objective, and your oven is now clean, hygienic, and safe.
Benefits of Using Vinegar:
These are some benefits of using vinegar to clean the microwave:
- Vinegar is inexpensive
- It is readily available in marts or general stores.
- It has no such chemicals which may cause harm to either the oven or the person dealing with it.
- It removes foul odors instead of producing them.
- Vinegar also has no effects on the environment.
